Lafcadio - The Lion, the Back Shot by Shel Silverstein

Published in 1963, Shel Silverstein's "Lafcadio: The Lion, shot back," is the story of a young lion that the machinations of the challenges the company, albeit unintentionally, when he refuses, the flow of the natural world to act. Of course this is frowned upon by other Lions and hunters. The subplot is the story of war and peace, it is interesting that Silverstein classic for the first time during the outbreak of war in Vietnam published. If this is justChance is not known.

The Story of Lafcadio begins when a group of hunters to capture shots pride of African countries. If all the lions disperse quickly in the immediate vicinity, Lafcadio, the lion (the name Uncle Shelby or Shel Silverstein finally gives him) asks why that is running away from these so-called "hunters", even if initially E 'the My destiny is imminent. So after doing all the Lions for their lives, remains Lafcadio, the way only he can takea look at one of the hunters, as he looked curious what this hunter. Well, when you come face to face to make a hunter, the hunter says to clear him, "I'll shoot you." Lafcadio responds with "But I surrender" and just to prove it, puts his feet in the air. What follows is a debate between the two, in which hunters, the young lion, despite the fact that Lafcadio ready, the hunter without protest to the transfer to shoot him. After all these infiltrations andLafcadio when asked why the hunter is that he is still shooting, the hunter says simply. "Because I [would]

Well, rest assured, Lafcadio not be killed by a hunter, because in his infinite wisdom, the hunter forgets his weapon, before inviting his safari. In response to this, says Lafcadio, the hunter, "I'm going to eat you," and if the hunter asked him why, he says, "Because I am." And of course it does. What follows is that Lafcadio takes the "funStick "that the gun (which belonged to the hunter) and start playing again and again to become a world-class sniper. He goes to be the best in the world, circus when a man finds out and takes him out of the jungle to find fame and fortune. Much later, and at the end of the story, he believes that Lafcadio tired of living the life of a sniper's successful worldwide and so at the suggestion of a man from the circus, he returned to the country proud and unitedwas only his pride that he does not want, nor lion, nor his man when he is neither a lifestyle fit.

One of the most important lessons in the late Shel Silverstein shows in this story is that we all have choices in life. At the beginning of history in which Lafcadio meets the first hunter was out to kill him, the hunter, in fact, have the choice to kill one or not to kill, plain and simple as Lafcadio had a choice, and or run or the end ofAdversity. It could be argued that it was safe, in fact, curiosity and courage, Lafcadio not kept racing, but in both cases, it was a choice. While Lafcadio offered peace and harmony, the hunter, whose only passion was to kill, the hunter had not really viable reason for killing the young lion as Lafcadio was friendly and courteous in his offer of peace to place no danger.

This reasoning leads me to believe that Silverstein, in fact, was a pacifist and therefore do not believe in huntingfor sport. This message speaks volumes about the reasons of our race, the war has created and kill innocent life just for the sake of killing, because there is no real value or purpose in mind and nature. Maybe we can all learn an important lesson from Lafcadio, after all, whose curiosity changed the scope of the kill without purpose.

Thanks for reading.
